What is electricity fraud?

Electricity fraud poses a serious risk to people's health and safety.
Illegal connections or tampering with an installation can cause electrocution, fires, or even death.

Electricity fraud: how to detect it and what to do

If you detect a possible anomaly, you can report it anonymously.
By reporting it, you help to:

  • Prevent serious accidents
  • Protect people and property
  • Stop other customers from bearing the cost of the fraud

We only need basic information about the supply, especially its location, to be able to inspect it.

How do I report a possible case of electricity fraud?

  • Reports are completely anonymous and confidential.
  • You do not need to be the contract holder for the supply;

you simply need to indicate where the installation is located

  • Can I check the status of a report?

    • No.
      All reports are handled by e-distribución. However, due to data protection regulations, we cannot provide updates or information on submitted reports.

  • My property has been squatted and illegally connected. What should I do?

    • You must report the illegal connection to the police, as it is a criminal offence under Article 255 of the Spanish Criminal Code

  • I have received a notification about an anomaly in my installation. What should I do?

    • The communication will outline:

      • What anomaly have been detected
      • Whether resolving it is your responsibility or ours

      If the anomaly is within your installation:

      • You must have it regularised by an authorised installer.
      • Afterwards, you must inform us so we can verify that it complies with regulations.

      If there is a fault with a rented meter:

      • We will take care of replacing it.
      • You simply need to grant us access to the equipment.

  • How can I pay a debt due to fraud?

      • With an active contract:
        You must settle the debt directly with your supplier.
      • Fraud without a contract:
        Please contact the telephone number or email address provided in the communications you have received.

  • My meter has an anomaly. How do I report it?

    • If you notice, for example, that:

      • The display is off
      • The meter is burnt out
      • There are visible dents or signs of tampering

      You can notify us by calling 900 878 119 (Customer Service).
      We will log a request to inspect the equipment as soon as possible.

  • Why has a case been opened for my supply?

    • Because we have detected an anomaly in either:

      • The metering equipment, or
      • The connection installation.

      This situation can lead to an incorrect or non-existent energy reading, making it necessary to regularise the supply.

      • Track the progress of your case on our website.

  • What documentation do I need?

      • Individuals: National ID (DNI)
      • Legal entities: documentation proving that you are an authorised representative of the organisation.
