The smart meter and its legislation
All certifications ensure the highest quality right from the start of the production process.
Electricity meters are subject to specific legislation that they must comply with in the European market. The new smart meter featuring Open Meter technology complies with European Directive 2014/32 / EU, which harmonises the legislation of all Member States regarding the marketing of meters. It also complies with the provisions of Royal Decree 244/2016, which implements Law 32/2014 on Metrology, which seeks to establish general rules for the organisation and conduct of metering activities in Spain.
Meters must be verified by the relevant authorised bodies. In this case, the e-distribución meter holds certifications accredited by the Institute for Energy Technology (ITE). Some certifications relate directly to the metering equipment (whether single-phase or three-phase). Others pertain to the company that assembles it and how it carries out the assembly in its factory, thus guaranteeing the highest quality throughout the production process.
