BeFexible Project

Small consumers can have an active participation in future flexibility services in Zaragoza.

"Boosting Engagement to Increase Flexibility” (BeFlexible) Project lasts 4 years and is endowed with funding of 10 million euros from the European Commission through Call Horizon-CL5-2021-D3-02-06, under the Horizon Europe program.

BeFlexible started on September 2022 and aims to test the provision of flexibility services to the Distribution System Operator (DSO) and the Transmission System Operator (TSO) through large-scale demonstrators in Spain, Italy, Sweden, and France.

The Consortium is made up of: i-DE; Iberdrola Energía España; Enel (and three companies of the group: Gridspertise, e-distribución and e-distribuzione ); E. ON Group; Areti; Terna; SAP; Schneider Electric; ThermoVault; STEMY Energy; RWTH Aachen University; RSE SPA; INESC TEC; ENGINEERING Group; Soulsight; Universidad Pontificia Comillas; EDSO, Smart Innovation Norway, Zabala Innovation and Timelex.

e-Distribución participates with a demonstrator in the city of Zaragoza, where consumers provide flexibility to the Distribution System Operator (DSO) through the active management of their electric water heaters, monitored and controlled by Thermovault.
