Energy efficiency
Energy efficiency is a key element for a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
Energy efficiency is a key component for a cleaner and more sustainable energy future, where the optimization and improvement of electrical grids contribute to reducing the losses that occur during the distribution of energy from generation to consumption.
For this reason, EDRD allocates annual investment efforts focused on the development of new distribution networks and the modernization and improvement of existing facilities. The main lines of action in the annual plans to reduce network losses are:
- Construction of new lines and substations to optimize layouts and reduce distances.
- Line adjustments and repowering, which optimize the distribution of electrical energy and reduce losses due to the Joule effect
- Expansion and advanced operation of the capacitor bank system and transformer regulation.
- Incorporation of high energy-efficiency transformers.
- Specific preventive maintenance: replacement of critical components, cleaning of electrical corridors, thermal and aerial inspections, among other actions.
- Implementation of remote management systems at high and low voltage metering points.
Through these efforts, EDRD not only benefits consumers by providing better service, but also contributes to environmental protection by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
EDRD has obtained the ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems certification from AENOR, which recognizes continuous improvement in energy efficiency.
