The smart meter and its legislation
All certifications guarantee the highest quality from the start of the manufacturing process.
Electricity meters are regulated by specific legislation for the European market. The new smart meter with open meter technology complies with European Directive 2014/32 / EU, which harmonises the laws of the Member States relating to the making available on the market of measuring instruments. It also complies with Royal Decree 244/2016, implementing the Metrology Act (Law 32/2014) which establishes general rules for the organisation and execution of metering activity in Spain.
Electricity meters are inspected by the corresponding authorised bodies. The electricity meters of e-distribución have been certified by the Institute for Energy Technology (ITE). Some certificates are specifically for the metering equipment (regardless of whether it is single or three-phase), while others are associated with the companies that assemble the meters and with the assembly procedures at their factories, guaranteeing the highest possible standards of quality throughout the manufacturing process.
